Guest guest
It seems the world evolves to some extent around communication based on opinions. Without opinions, where would communication go? Without opinions, would these lists survive? Would our social life survive? I pondered on this for a while. I saw when we give our *opinion* on a subject, it reflected our beliefs, based on our experiences or intellectual knowledge we are wanting to learn, that either agreed or disagreed with another's beliefs. If it agreed, this made those with the same outlook feel good and *right*, while possibly making a different belief feel disagreed upon and *wrong*.... or at the least, a feeling of separation. If we disagreed, either all conversations on the subject would stop due to no point in arguing -- it was just an opinion -- or we would continue to try to change the other's minds, hellbent on helping them to see 'the way'. Without the latter, communication stops. Separation continues, in my opinion, either way. Observing two people with opposite opinions usually resulted in my agreeing with one, and disagreeing with the other. Or watching the dance of the light fantastic as two people seemed to be merely dancing with each other, but not quite in the groove while stepping on each others toes. While observing the dance, I would wonder who was the master, and who was the student. Which *opinion* would I take on as the right way for me... or did I have my own different beliefs? It came to mind of how although I like to dance, I was never great -- just your average dancer. But one night I went out to a club with some friends, and I watched the most amazing man dance like no one I've ever seen before! He was the best I had ever seen. As I was watching him, our eyes met, and he eventually asked me to dance. I couldn't! He was soooo good! I would not be able to keep up with him, or I'd make him look bad, or worse, I'd look like an idiot! I would definitely step on his toes he had so many mastered moves that I lacked. Luckily, he was persistant, and I gave in. We started with a fast dance. I noticed he followed me. He mimicked my moves; not in a 'making fun of me' way, but just having a great time, smiling, laughing, and enjoying the dance, making me feel comfortable and equal. We were definitely in-sync, one with each other. One dance turned into another and another and another. We closed the place down, dancing until the night ended. Within a few dances, he was no longer 'following' me, but allowed our synchronicity to revert to his mastership of dancing. I began following his every move. It was easy! I was dancing like I never danced before. At times during the night, people cleared the dance floor, and watched us, applauding us after every dance. I didn't know I could move like that! I had never moved like this before! I didn't step on one toe, or if I did, it didn't matter -- it was part of the dance! I knew I was in the presence of a true master. He made me/us look good despite my own dancing inadequacies and my own opposite opinions of my dancing, which he saw didn't matter -- things that didn't even exist when I danced with him. Wishing all of you a VERY Merry Christmas! Love, xxxtg
