Guest guest
Please don't jump all over me for saying this, but I feel compelled to pass along the following information regarding the Kabbalah-related Internet site identified in this e-mail: Shabbatai Zevi - who converted to Islam rather than be put to death - IS NOT considered to be "the Messiah" - nor is he considered to be a reliable teacher of Kabbalah - in "mainstream Judaism" (i.e., all varieties of Orthodox Judaism, including - and perhaps especially - Hasidism, AS WELL AS the Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist Jewish Movements.) He is, instead, considered to be a heretic and a misleader of the people. Please understand that I mean NO disrespect to Islam - or to those who follow Islam - by posting this reply to your e-mail message. (Who, after all, can question the great Wisdom of such luminaries as Jalalludin Rumi?) Nor do I mean to imply that "mainstream Judaism" has a monopoly on Kabbalistic Wisdom or that it is the "only" path to G-d. On the contrary, I believe that ALL religions are legitimate paths to G-d and that there is Wisdom to be found in each and every one of them. It is also not my intention to pass judgment on Shabbatai Zevi, on any of his students, ancient or modern, or on the information contained on the Website: that unenviable task belongs to G-d, and G-d alone. My intention is merely to point out that there exists another - and very different - point-of-view regarding the person of Shabbatai Sevi - AND his teachings - than that which is offered at the Website. I do this as a warning, because Kabbalistic practices can be VERY, VERY dangerous and, if undertaken without proper training and preparation, can - and frequently do - result in irreparable damage to the practitioner. I do not claim to be well-versed in the PROPER training, preparation, and practice of Kabbalah. But I DO know a thing or to about the damage that can be caused by IMPROPER trainining, preparation, and practice, having suffered such damage myself. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Cephera Dear Cephera, Thank you for your message. I am not well-informed about the specifics involved in your message, but in general I respect your experience in having suffered damage from improper training!! This experience well deserves to be handed on and regarded by anyone investigating a similar path. Regards, --Greg
