Guest guest
>Greg Goode <goode > >I'll be going to the Zen Studies Society (Rinzai Zen) on 67th Street in New >York City for the annual New Year's chant. It is really an amazing thing. >After a 30-minute sitting and an hour Dharma talk, we will be chanting the >"Life Prolonging Kannon Sutra" for about an hour, until 5 minutes before >midnight. Dear Greg, It must be nice to have such possibilities available. When I have heard Tibetan Buddhist chants live, they are incredibly powerful experiences. Tho I am always saying nothing happens out here in the boonies, our little nearby town was chosen to host the Mideast peace negotiations starting right after the new year. On New Year's day at noon, there will be an ecumenical prayer service to start a peace vigil for the duration of these negotiations. Tho begun with some Jewish and Muslim rites, it will be conducted Quaker style, allowing anyone to offer words of prayer or thoughts. I will be taking all of you here in my heart, yet it would be nice if any of you might pause to join us in thoughts for peace during that hour. Life and Peace, consider the alternative. Thanks, Dharma. The Peace Talks will be in Shepherdstown, WV that's EST.. Gee, it's not on the front pages everywhere?? Anytime is a good time, as well. The church is maintaining a 24 hour vigil, someone there for each and every hour all week. Glo
