Guest guest
Thanks for sharing that Bruce about karma being similar to gravity. It reminds me of something. Once, more than two decades ago, I was walking with my teacher and no one was around and so I asked him what was the quickest way to Self-Realization. Pranayama or Mediation or Pure Self-Enquiry. He said "Don't ask me questions like that." I said, "No Gurudev, tell me, no one is here and no one will be harmed if the answer is not appropriate to their level and beyond their understanding." I was quite confident of my ability to sit in meditation for long periods and practice various types of pranayama and retain the breath. My teacher shrugged his shoulder and said, "Any spiritual practice when carried to an extreme leads to Realization." Then he added, "Even if you carry the feeling of amity for all living beings and practice of non-violence to an extreme, that also leads to Self-Realiztion." "How can that possibly be?" I asked. "If that was true, why would people spend years and years in solitude in meditation." He answered, "Yes. They remain in solitude and don't bother anyone. And no one bothers them. Indirectly, they are practicing non-violence. Live and Let Live is the beautiful message of the sages." So I reflect sometimes that our blessing others uplifts us and our curses cloud our vision. All living beings strive to be happy. That is the universal principle. All are seeking the same thing. Peace, joy, love. There is competition, when we view these as coming from somewhere outside us. When we see that our nature, the Self-Nature, Buddha Nature, is inherently complete, then with whom shall we compete and for what? God bless you all with peace and joy Om Shanti Shanti Harsha

If we bless others are we not blessing ourselves? Why do we curse ourselves by cursing others? Habit...learned habits that can be unlearned. Competition isn't necessary when healthy selfishness is practiced. Discerning reality from a distortion created by our enmeshed feelings and emotions can be the beginning of a wonderful relationship with ourselves and with others. By the way, I'm kinda new at this spiritual stuff... what doed Om Shanti Shanti mean? Michael
