Dan: Dear Tony - The "false self" that wants its own independent existence (and sometimes claims to want its own demise) isn't really capable of wanting anything, since it never has an independent existence. All kinds of efforts can represent an attempt to make an "appearance" into a "reality". Intellectualizing is one such effort - but there are many, many. Another such effort can be criticizing the unreal self for various problems its supposedly "has". Regardless, there is no self making any of these efforts - it's an appearance and thus can only appear to try to be something and have something. There's no prescription for ending or killing an unreal self - therefore it is sometimes said, "simply rest in the True Nature of Original Mind." (or Original Being, or Original Self, etc.) >T: It is not really intellectualising for it is in the >Manomayakosa. There are only a few real intellectuals >on the planet. Those with purified Buddhis. We're all in the same boat as far as that goes :-) Love, Dan
