Guest guest
Path of Love to All, A quick cut and paste this morning :-) --------------------- Valentinus, a Christian healer in third century Rome, was asked to heal the young daughter of one of the Emperor's jailers. She had been blind from birth. Over time, Valentinus worked with Julia, teaching her about Rome's history, the natural world and what he believed spiritually. She loved to go to him and pray with him every day. But her blindness didn't improve. However, her father and she never wavered in their faith. One day the inevitable happened. Valentinus was arrested, jailed and then executed for refusing to give up his Christianity and worship the old Roman gods. Before he was executed, Valentinus wrote a farewell note to Julia, signing it "from your Valentine," and included a dried yellow crocus. He was killed. When Julia opened the note and felt the crocus fall into her hands, suddenly she could see bright colors - and her sight appeared! She planted a pink-blossomed almond tree over Valentinus' grave! And so the tale goes, the almond tree ever since has been a symbol of abiding love and friendship! In 496 Pope Gelasius I named February 14 as Saint Valentine's Day. ---------------------- Love*Light*Laughter, bo
