There have been inquiries about the potential for actually having a

Retreat which I had mentioned earlier. A local Zen Center here in

Rhode Island has the room to accommodate during one of the weekends in July or

August (From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon). If there is a serious

interest, then we should form an organizing committee for the retreat and start

to explore this option. Thanks.

Love to all

What's happening about the retreat? I'll be there if I can, but I do need

a date so I can make plans. I'll be going North in the spring or early

summer to visit family and friends... Some are in the Boston area, so,

either on the way or the way back, I'll be going through Rhode Island. But

one trip North from San Antonio is about all I can manage for one year...

July would be good for me... August is iffy. The Boston people go away

for much of August, though I don't have dates yet for this year. And

hanging around for a couple of weeks waiting for the retreat could get

expensive. :))

Seems to me the major organizational effort for a retreat would involve

food, cooking, dish-washing... all that. If the Zen Center will provide

meals, then it's a snap. :) Maybe we'd need some volunteers for clean-up

at the end...

As for any planned programming, I could care less. At the last retreat I

went to, there were classes/workshops offered during the days... I did one

myself, went to the ones that interested me, and skipped the others.

Anything you plan is fine with me... or if you plan nothing, that's fine

with me too. What I really want is just the opportunity to spend some time

with you and others of the satsangha.

Love,

Dharma

Thanks Dharma for your interest. That's fantastic that you are thinking of

attending. I am generally floundering, which is what I do best by the way.

Several people have expressed sentiments similar to yours and so we are taking

this somewhat seriously. The very capable leadership of a is doing

all sorts of complex analysis on multiple variables to come with the optimal

site and time for the retreat. Gloria Lee is the head of the exploration

committee and she might be doing some secret polling on this issue, etc.

Probably, we will be hearing from her at some point.

Will keep everyone up to date.

Dear Dharma and List,

So far, I am doing what I do best..which is fussing at Harsha :):)... My

philosophy here is: Build it and they will come. However, any ideas are welcome,

write me on or off list. Since Harsha has a job and I don't, I am offering to

handle the making of plans, your reservations and paperwork in so far as

possible from here. The idea for the Zen retreat center is mostly to have a

peaceful, scenic place, (plus Harsha says they seem welcoming even knowing what

sort of group we are!!). A cost of about $100 for 2 nights and some meals

prepared by staff also makes this relatively affordable. So be thinking about

how much you would like to be there FOR SURE, so the poll will be fairly

accurate for planning on numbers, to whatever extent we need a minimum to even

have the place reserved. Polling soon!

The more the merrier!

Gloria
