Guest guest Posted March 2, 2000 Report Share Posted March 2, 2000 Jerry: Yes, American Beauty is a very dark comedy about people beautifully caught in the world dream in dark, horrible ways, and about people who have a breathtaking ability to see beyond it. The very last line of the movie is worth the whole movie, I recall. I'll watch it again on video. Hopefully there will be more discussion at that time. I look forward to seeing it! I'd like to add one more movie review that touched me so much this week when I watched it on video. "Life Is Beautiful". Wow, what an amazing story that touched my own heart with the meaning of my favorite saying from the bible (paraphrased) "Blessed are ye' who believe, yet do not see." What a beautiful story that was done humorously. I don't know if it was a true story or not, but it is a jewish man and his small son's experience during Hitler's reign and their stay in the concentration camp. It is in italian or french, so it has captions. But most of us here are so used to 'reading stories' and posts, it's like being on the internet and feels like home. :-) Life is beautiful, yes!
