Guest guest
Namaste All, In response, the other night was the night! There are many legends and myths about this night. However it is the night midway between the moons, and as the moon pulls the mind like it does the tides; it is the night when one has or should have the most control over one's mind. Hence it is good for meditation etc. It is supposed to be in myth when Siva danced his tandava dance, and when the lingam form emerged as well. Also when he consumed the death poison and was very hot so the Ganga was poured over his hair locks. This is the teaching myth, the truth is the first paragraph. The word Siva can be used for one of the Trinity, or as the Universal Consciousness itself, little Siva and Big Siva. Hi Tony. Thanks for your very informative and common sense posts. Yes, traditionally, meditation on a full moon night is considered auspicious. Linda and Dharma on are adept astrologers and can comment even more on how planets and stars influence the mind and the Kundalini Shakti. Once, a few decades ago, I studied briefly with a well known yogi, who used to give people certain types of stones and rings and amulets to enhance their personal strengths, their meditation, and to fulfill their desires. Many people went to him and later gave testimonials as well. These people felt that these special stones were better than medical science and cured many of their problems and made them more energetic and successful and helped them raise Kundalini as well. I respected this teacher but could not believe, at least for myself, that an outside object or amulet or the position of stars or moons could be of permanent help. It has just been my feeling since childhood that any place and time and all places and times are good for being Self Aware and for being in meditation. Still, I do respect the beliefs of others who feel that there are certain special times to worship and meditate and am happy to go along with what ever group I am in. According to mythology Siva drank the poison that would otherwise have destroyed the world. Only Siva had the capacity to do it. I am not a scholar in the area but my interpretation is that since Siva stands for Supreme Consciousness, it follows that Consciousness is ultimately all powerful and can consume and digest anything. So, for people who have troubles, mental, emotional and otherwise, this holds out great hope. Consciousness within every person has the power to consume and digest all challenges that come along their spiritual path. Love to all Harsha > // > > All paths go somewhere. No path goes nowhere. Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self.
