Thank you, David, for your fascinating and thoughtful comments on depression. You've given me quite a bit for my intellect to gnaw on; I appreciate it. Guest guest
Hi Mike, Welcome to the list :-) Some random breezes of Air... one of many possible breezes... I could emote, which could be mistaken for compassion. Or, I could offer windows to open in the mind with breezes... .... thoughts form actions (or chemistry) actions form character, character creates destiny... Second thought... 600 mile march through China to escape communism at its beginning. Young healthy soldiers, old worn out nuns march... guess who dies and who lives? Why? >From a non-emoting place, or a symbolic place I would respond differently than from an emoting place to the Navy Seal/Accountant. I've zero data here to work with, so, really can have zero response, other than to suggest paths. Caroline Myss, speaks to this in Anatomy of the Spirit and Why Some People Don't Heal and How They Can. Ultimately we each choose. A person I know chooses very witty cynical thoughts, she is related to me, and would be on prozac if there weren't family psychiatrists. As it is, they've worked with her thoughts. She gave up brilliant cynicism for serenity. She surrendered. There are always rare exceptions. Ultimately our thoughts all contribute to the collective. What do we choose individually, interdependently, collectively? Dalai Lama March 11 from The Path to Tranquility: According to tantra, the ultimate nature of mind is essentially pure. This pristine nature is technically called "clear light." When this clear light nature of mind is veiled or inhibited from expressing its true essence by the conditioning of afflictive emotions and thoughts, the person is said to be caught in the cycle of existence, samsara. But when, by applying appropriate meditative techniques (Harsha's email, thank you Harsha :-)) the individual is able to fully experience this clear light nature of mind, free from the influence of afflictive states, he or she is on the way to true liberation and full enlightenment.
