Well, I find some techno to be quite releasing for energy, you can sort of shake off stuck energy while moving to the beats, so "techno yoga" may not be so bad. I think we have a cpl of guys on this list who makes their own music. Perhaps it includes trance / techno ? My favorite acts for the time being are Kruder and Dorfmeister. They have remixed a lot of old hits, including Depeche Mode's "Useless" and Roni Sizes "Heroes". K&D are more drum and bass, than pure techno, though. Another nice techno act is Basement Jaxx. Or maybe this is dance music ? Where do you get your trance music from ? I have heard it blends traditional Indian music and is inspired by Indian spiritualiy. Is this correct ? I have yet to find some good compilations. Love, Amanda. Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com

I love it - it's energetic and transcendent at the same time. >Where do you get your trance music from ? >I have heard it blends traditional Indian >music and is inspired by Indian spiritualiy. >Is this correct ? >I have yet to find some good compilations. I go to DJ record stores in NYC and ask for trance. There are two main kinds of trance, Goa trance and European trance. The Goa sounds have Indian chanting and instrument sounds. The European has slow, anthem-like melodies like New Age music and a great house beat, maybe a wistful, wailing female voice here and there. The best come from Germany, England, Sweden and Finland. Far and away the best trance compilation is the megalithic Dream Dance series, from Sony Music Media, mixed in Germany. It's probably up to 15 or 16 volumes now. Each volume is a double CD set with 20 tracks per disk. All of them have a dolphin logo and a watter-spotted slick surface of different colors each set. Most places specializing in electronic music will know about them or be able to order them. Love, --Greg
