On the other hand, l'll admit that l continue to be distressed by the fact that most of the gurus in eastern traditions that have come to the west or have marketed themselves to westerners have fallen. There are many who no doubt rejoice in this fact, and there are others who will go to any length to deny it and/or rationalize it. ln that l have devoted myself to eastern traditions for nearly 20 yrs, l definitely do not rejoice in it. But l cannot deny it, nor am l able to buy into the rationalizations l have heard offered in their behalf. Some argue that we should only focus on the message and ignore the messenger's misdeeds. That, again, is a matter of personal choice. lt just doesn't happen to be mine. jerry Jerry, I love you brother and fully support your right to be distressed (for as long as you want). Honestly. No one has the right to tell you "to just get over it!" I am not being sarcastic or anything. Frankly, it might not be healthy to "just get over it!" Especially when what you say is true. And it is true brother. There are fallen teachers everywhere (East, West, North, South) and they are falling all the time in all traditions. Never underestimate the pull of Gravity :--). Rising and falling happens in Gravity, unless perhaps one takes a mighty jump and goes straight into orbit! Listen brother. The Light and the Dark exist in relationship to each other. The opposites make up the world. That, which has no opposites, cannot be spoken of directly but indicated. If someone can do that, and make you feel and believe that you are the ultimate authority, S/he is a good teacher. If someone can show you the way to your Own Heart, That Person is a Guru. And once you reach the Core, the Essential Truth of the matter, you will see Jerry that You have always been the One True Guru. I can understand your disappointment because you spent 20 years in traditions where you saw many promises being broken. Promises of holy men. Perhaps True Love means never having to make a promise. Promises are made to be broken. So, if it is any consolation, this is the nature of things. It has always been the nature of things. Sometimes, we just have to see the nature of things. I now declare you Guru Jerry. May you live well and prosper oh grasshopper! Love Harsha
