I didn't know meditating on a guru or deity could be beneficial at all until I tried. I guess, japa of the heart, japa not to an altar from a voice, but to mercy from our innermosts hearts, is what we all need to experience and also receive. When hearing about Milarepa, I can't help wondering whether such an individual ever existed. As you describe about the guru meditatio: Lama Yeshe writes that in order to feel Bodhisattva Heruka's body in one's own, one should envision him in the crown chakra, bestowing blissful Kundalini energy down one's central channel. When I got up this morning I suddenly felt something warm and blissful at the top of my head and smiled. Ah, that must be Bodhisattva Heruka I thought to myself. Turns out I was standing underneath my 2x60 watt ceiling lamp. Thanks again for the info. Love, Amanda.
