Hi Rob !

Great to hear that Frank continues to be a source of inspiration ! :)) To me,

the man was a true musical genius and revolutionary - I deeply suspect that

there was a soft, spiritual spot there somewhere beyond all that biting

cynicism...

I'm helplessley in love with it. I hope to have it take care of itself, maybe

even me, >

Seems as if we're on the same vibrational and experiential planet here :))

Do you actually play FZ music yourself ? A lot of it is too awesomely

daunting and intricate for me !

The poodle bites - arf she said ... :))

All the best

Michael

Yes! As in admiration: I don't play the way he does. :)

I reckon. Have you been to his website? (http://www.zappa.com/) There's a

good interview with his wife, Gail. She reveals a side of him that I think

was much less cynical, if you read between her careful answers. She really

sounds like one together person too. :)

In an interview many years ago, he berated the hippies for claiming to love

everybody, but being too messed up to do it. That got me thinking about my

attitude...

Well, you are talking to someone who is unschooled in music. I have learned

all I know by ear. It embarrasses me to say this, because I'm sure there's

many out there reading this who can read music, know their theory and have

had proper training. Dharma has been very encouraging, and this has spurred

me on to learning the theory, but I've played music by ear for decades,

probably because I didn't want to hunker down to the head work when I was

younger, I wanted to just play what I could hear in my head. Now I'm being

less improvisational and more compositional, and I shall learn my abc's <LOL>

His music is so daunting! What gets me is how accessible it is,

considering. And his attitude was "nothing is sacred", very Buddhist, imo.
