Hi Harsha, Please post the article. Perhaps we should put this particular article on the shared files of the list, or at least put the URL on the shared files, as well ? It seems to me that for those who can do pranayama under proper guidance and cope with the increased energies of the body system this brings, it is a good method that can help spur real changes. The parts of the central nervous system regulating respiration is mainly the brain stem (base of the brain) and unsurprisingly, a lot of other life supporting functions are also situated here. So influencing breathing could well influence other aspects of the mind body. The rythm of breathing is a basic aspect of the mind body and as I see it, it is also a basic aspect of the rest of the universe, as described in the mantra Ham-sa or So-ham. To me, the integral part of this mantra is "coming into being" coupled with a "ceasement of being", a cycle of being and non being, that follows an inhalation-exhalation pattern. Hence, breathing normally and paying attention to it, may be useful. In addition, activities such as free diving (diving without breathing apparatus) and competition swimming, where vigorous activity is coupled with breath retention and forceful expellation of air, may turn out to be increase energies. Love, Amanda.

The paper has been on the Kundalini Website for the last 3 or so years. I will revise it a bit over the summer. It addresses the issues associated with Kundalini and pranayama. I will find and post the url later tonight after my class or tomorrow. Love Harsha
