Guest guest
Greg Goode <goode@D...> << I look forward to the retreat too. One really fun thing I've done at other retreats is a drum circle. Everybody bring their favorite instrument/drum/gong/bell/spoons/sticks/pots+pans, etc. After a short meditation, we start with a simple but catchy rhythm and smoothly work into a trance-like drumming session. It can last for hours, and I've seen amazing transformations occur, with people opening graciously to parts of themselves they didn't know about or approve of! There is a great drum-master from Montreal who taught this to me over the last several years. He has 300-person drum circles downtown Montreal on Sundays. Maybe there are others who have done this too. Love, --Greg >> At the foot of the mountain, downtown, in Montreal, it started again like every spring, on sunday, the drums.... Just love them, and they are part of the heart beat of Montreal, in summer. 300 person and more drumming in circle all day, with others dancing into trance in the centre, with families and curious playing, living in the park around, policemen at the limit of this huge 1 km circle, before one looking from the summit of the mountain may see this huge mandala flow in town. I cherish those days dancing on the drums, finished in small cafe where i would dance all night to the beat of 3 drummers just arrived from Africa. Each shivers on my skin would be their hand touching their drum, and each touch to their drum would move my body. Thank you Greg for this Memory, and for showing this link between us, among many, for I must of danced for the hands of your drum master. Who knows? We all loose our name under the Beat.
