Guest guest
Hi Rob, and All, I need to resolve this (no sh*t!). It's blocking my >heart chakra at a deep level, about where compassion and unconditional love >would flow out to everyone, and the world would appear suffused with love. >It stops just short of this person, and gets blocked. Yes, this can be a deep one. I want to recommend a fictional work by Stephen Mitchell, called Meetings With the Archangel - A Comedy of the Spirit. I got myself in trouble here awhile ago with my desire to deal with this very problem, where I used (Shri) Hitler as metaphor/subject/self. I didn't express it very well, although I learned a lot from the discussion. I don't mean to stir up waves here, but Stephen Mitchell tackles this with the same setting and if I could have used his words instead of mine, I would have. It is an interesting work (I have it on audio tape and I'm not finished listening to it - I just got it and am listening in the car, you see...) He describes a Zen koan teaching in which he directly looks at the problem of evil and the consequent problem of feeling unconditional love for someone against whom we feel blocked in our desire to feel unconditional love. I don't mean to compare anyone to anyone here (eg Hitler to someone you have loved and are perhaps trying to come to peace with), I just think the path Mitchell describes has utility in solving this problem. (some direct experiencing of the archetypes, metta, and more...) I find some of the tape hokey (smoking broccoli), but much of it is useful to me, and all of it is fun. I found it at Borders. Love, Mark If anyone does listen to it or read it I'd love to hear what you think of it.

Thanks, I'll check it out. A quick trip to the Amazon paper forest, methinks...
