Please keep them coming, if you don’t mind. Actually, you have me smiling and laughing a little because I am even far below mediocre in this area. But I am reconciled to it. When I used to do Pranayama, I would spontaneously chant sometimes in between and afterwards as well. Sometimes, it was very loud. Afterwards another yogi friend with whom I shared the house would comment on how my chanting reminded him of a call to war! He was the nicest person actually. Arunachala Shiva was written by Ramana Maharshi for his devotees. The first time I heard someone sing it, I did not know anything about it and was literally thunderstruck and did not know what was happening to me. After that, whenever the singers came on the stage before the lecture by my teacher, I would practically beg them to sing that song. They did it very beautifully and it was always very moving. Listening to it, my body tingled from toes to my head and I had such massive rushes of energy moving upwards. Devotional feelings can effect the Kundalini Shakti and awaken it as well. Some say that it is the safest way to awaken. I sent my chant to the list wanting to experiment with the new technology. I have not chanted regularly for a long time and so my voice is rough. Also, I can’t carry a tune and when I try to sing, it sounds like I am weeping or something. Well, it is kind of funny when I hear my voice. I appreciate your feedback. Your kindness reaches out and touches others. Love Harsha
Guest guest
Good Morning Harsha: Your post about not being able to carry a note brought a smile of recognition to my face. When I first started teaching having to lead the chants seemed insane to me as I can't sing and even my speaking voice is rather flat. Luckily for everyone mantra has a life of it's own. At one point when I was still with the teacher he would not allow any mantras to be played in class except for the ones he had recorded and an interesting situation arose from that rule. He has a good singing voice and no one in class could actually do mantra with his tapes...I would have to let the students hear the mantra then turn off the tape so we could chant. So please chant on.....I know I do and now I even sing along with the radio and no one seems to mind though I do see some smiles and head shaking. By the way I would love to have the words to that mantra a mantra written by Ramana Maharshi......how lucky we are to have you to share with us so lovingly. Love, Linda
