For the 1-1/2 yrs l was with Chetanananda l made several trips out to the ashram in Portland and really loved the area. l used to spend hours every day in their Japanese garden, which is the best l've seen outside Japan. And l used to love to hang out at Powell's too -- geez, what a great bookstore. One of the things l've missed most after separating from Swami has been the Portland area, its beauty and attractions. l envy the shit out of you if you live there, except that some day you guys are expected to get about a "9.5" earthquake. That's allright, though, you probably won't be there then. ))))) jerry
Guest guest
Harsha, try www.powells.com for books. Powell's is probably the largest new and used bookstore in the US of A if not the world. The main store here is one city block and four stories high in size. Then they have annexes and satellite stores in the area. The shelves are six feet long and twelve feet high! The religion section has at least three racks of just Tibetan buddhism alone! Since Powell's computerized their inventory, you should be able to find many interesting books. Now, stop reading books, or you may go insane! I am! :-)))))) HAHAHAH and HOHOHO! Peace - and bibliophilia - Michael
