Guest guest
Namaste Harsha, Often when I come out of meditation, I take a first breath and that is what seems to bring me back, however I have no memory of any prior experience in meditation, except that I was not conscious but not asleep either. I wondered for a long time that perhaps I wasn't breathing for why the sudden breath? I have sometimes had bliss memories but not all the time. I usually do the three pranayama exercises before meditation but not heavy. Chanting Gayatri during retention as a counting method also. Om Namah Sivaya, Tony. Hello Sri Tonyji and Namaste! Thank you for sharing. Perhaps you are experiencing what is sometimes called Yoga Nidra. It is said to be deeply restful. It seems that in deep relaxation the breath slows done to the extent that it is not noticeable. In certain rare Samadhis, the breath is completely sucked out from the lungs and even the heart stops temporarily. Sri Ramana once suggested that there are two fundamental approaches to Self-Realization. One involves conservation of sleep energy and other metabolic forces through conscious regulation of conduct and life style. This leads to Samadhi and understanding the nature of consciousness and that One is That Consciousness. The other approach is not to worry about all that but to remain conscious and self-aware of one's innate wakefulness. Probably both approaches start intermingling after a while. By the way, like many Hindus, I also did the Gayatri mantra since childhood and used it as a counting method for breath retention. I did Gayatri in grade school as well, when I had not done my homework, to escape punishment. The stories I could tell!:-). Love Harsha All paths go somewhere. No path goes nowhere. Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self.
