Dear list,

Here's an excerpt from Muktananda's book "I am That"

I have found to be very comforting and inspiring

and which I thought I should share with the list.

Thanks to Dale for sending this to me:

"The Self is always with us. Just as the sun cannot be

separated from its light, the Self cannot be separated

from us. The power of the Self sustains our life. If

the Self were not present within us, our eyes would

not see, nor would our ears hear, nor would our

breath come in and go out. It is because of the Self

that the heart beats, the the mind thinks,

discriminates, and fantasizes. It is

because of the Self that love arises within us. The

Self gives power to all our senses and illuminates the

objects we perceive through these senses. This body

does not function on its own. Without the

Self, it is nothing but a corpse.

Not only does the Self pervade and sustain our own

individual experience, it also pulsates in every atom

of this world. In this way, the Self is apparent, it

is manifest. Some philosophers say

that the Self cannot be known. Yet the Self is always

being experienced, at every moment of our lives."

:)

Love,

Amanda.
