Hi Everyone~!

Namaste'

After having a private website on Ram Dass since '96 and taking

over as webmaster of the Tape Library around 1 1/2 years ago, I am

letting go of this and moving on to other things in my life.

The Ram Dass Tape Library will now be in need of a webmaster to

manage the site. They are looking for someone who wishes to do

service work ("seva" in Sanskrit), so this will be a giving of your

time to do something to "help" the Tape Library. Many, many of you

are ardent 'students' of Ram Dass and from the e-mail I've received

over the years, there's a ton of you who would love to do *anything.*

With that in mind, I need to be clear that the Tape Library

needs someone with not just "personal website skills". A

knowledgable webmaster is what is required. Someone who wishes to do

seva, has the time to do so (which means a daily signon for the

monitoring of the web board and e-commerce) and is desiring this

service from their heart.

What is basically involved:

Website design: I was asked to keep the website "simple",

rather than getting into a whole lot of long-loading JAVA, etc. I've

done my best with that and would wish to see someone with some

creative ability along with tact.

E-Mail (Bulk, as this one is): There will be times when

Marlene---Ram Dass' secretary--will need information sent out. And

other times when general information needs to be sent out. This will

require the ability to not only know how to send bulk e-mail, but

bulk e-mail as Blind Carbon Copies (as you see in this one, only my

name is here). This is to protect the anononimity of those who have

asked in the past. **For this reason, I will hold on to this e-mail

list (not the regular mailing list for the catalogs) until someone is

available and capable of sending this type of e-mail and has been on

around for a bit of time.--I don't want to see this very large list

of names compromised**

Updates on site: There will be ongoing updates of lectures and

anything else reqested by Marlene, to add.

Managing the messageboard: The messageboard "needs" to be

monitored, meaning you would check in once a day, "approve or delete"

messages and add any html for those messages. QUESTIONABLE messages

get directed to Marlene for clarification.

E-Commerce: Although it is not *necessary* to have e-commerce,

it is already set-up and the pages are written for it to work. There

are two most important considerations with this part of this service.

You must be someone who can be trusted with credit card information

and (Bay Area would be best....it's your call) once orders are

retreived, they need to be faxed to the Tape Library, at which point

you would DELETE all of that information from your computer. The

"Bay Area" is only referring to the cost of sending faxes. The

longer the distance, the more it will cost you. It's not a lot, but

I'm just adding this info in here. YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE OPTION OF

SENDING ORDERS TO THE TAPE LIBRARY VIA E-MAIL. YOU WILL NEED TO FAX

THIS INFORMATION ONLY.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED: First, go to the site; check out source

codes and how things work and take some time to think about if a.)

you can handle it and b.) if you have the time for it.

Once you have given it some thought, then please contact Marlene

"RDTapes" and let her know you are interested. I might also

need to speak with someone on specifics, but that's down the line.

My internet connection will be on till the end of this month.

After that, if you need to contact me, you would need to get that

info from Marlene. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE USING THE

"ramdasstapes.org" e-mail address I use. It will bounce back to you.

If anyone wishes to contact me, use my Earthlink address, which

is:

"ziddhartha"

I, personally, have no doubts that the powers that be....(the

many devas flying around) will light up the right heart for this

service. Another note: This is not something that can be split up

between people. Due to sensitive material and passwords, you will be

asked to maintain the whole works. So, please give it thought before

jumping right in.

Please do not overload Marlene with unnecessary e-mail. The

Tape Library gets an overwhelming amount of e-mail. Serious

inquiries only. If you meet all of the above, then please e-mail.

For all of you that have been there for so long sending your

supportive letters to me, I am grateful.

Marlene is a GREAT person to work with if you are the person

that gets involved with this seva.

Love, Love, Love to All~

Please do not ask to be removed from this e-mail list at

this time. This option will be available a.s.a.p.
