Guest guest
Dear Larry et al., << LBIDD Your annoyance is more interesting than the question of free will. Enjoy that! Larry >> KKT: Many thanks to everybody who answered to my question. Larry said, "Your annoyance is more interesting than the question", and "ENJOY THAT". That sounds great :-)) I think this is the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita about action (Karma Yoga) "Do but don't mind about the result" This is an optimistic way of life :-)) My confusion about free will is that: (1) In the absolute plane, "free will is only an illusion". Because the ego or the doer is only an illusion, so is free will which is the expression of the ego. This is the sense of a COMPLETE SURRENDERING. (2) But in a relative plane, free will is not quite an illusion, we need free will (Oh yes, the world is not an illusion, are bills illusions? :-)) Many religions and spiritual paths accept free will, at least in the beginning. When you practice, when you try to ameliorate yourself, it means you have to use free will. And here is the problem. Where there is free will, there is ego, there is the doer. And where there is ego, there is conflict and therefore suffering. The loop is complete :-)) So how to "conciliate" free will and surrendering? Where is the edge, the limit between the two? BTW, I think in Gurdjieff's the Fourth Way, one only "expands" one's own ego without arriving to have the "real" free will as he said. Any comment? Thanks very much. Peace, KKT
