Guest guest
Has anyone here ever been on a snipe hunt? During my teen years this was the thing to do. We would start talking about the joys of hunting the wonderfully delicous and illusive snipe. We would regale each other about the joys of bagging our first snipe. Eventually someone who had never participated in a snipe hunt would begin to show interest in joining a hunt. We would, after sufficient preparation, allow this person to join in a hunt. Snipe of course can not be hunted with guns. One misplaced shot and the flavor would be ruined. Snipe are hunted by stealth and cunning. We would spent hours preparing the novice hunter in the ways of the wily snipe. After sufficient preparation and on a suitable warm night we would have our snipe hunt. The first timers were always given the most important job of 'bag man'. We would take them out to some lonely area known to harbor many juicy snipe. Leaving the bag man on a hilltop with a large burlap sack and a sturdy stick, we would then leave to 'drive the snipe' to the bag man. After an hour or two we would return to see if any snipe had been bagged. Then we would leave for the last time. Leaving our snipe holding the bag. :-)) After this initiation our new hunter would often be willing to help others learn the joys of hunting the wily snipe. ---------------------- Why be concerned with the ego? Wouldn't you rather hunt snipe? HAHAHAH and HOHOHO! Peace - Love - Michael
