Fw: Inner sound

Lists,

I would like to introduce a meditation tonight called the inner

sound, or shabda. Some of you may have heard of it before. It is the

primordial sound of creation, the unstruck sound from which all sound

arises.

Meditating on the inner sound is widely known to facilitate Kundalini

awakening and facilitate the processes involved with Divine Kundalini

Shakti. Contrary to what many people tout as the truth, one need not

assist Kundalini in any way. Kundalini is the Divine Chiti, or power of

Universal Consciousness. She is the intelligent goddess from which all

intelligence arises, she is the essence of this world. Kundalini is one

with Chiti.

To presuppose we know what is best over her is the heart of a fool. I

have heard many people say to me "I am feeling as though I have lost the

spiritual high, what shall I do'? When we begin to assume what feelings or

sensations are best for us, we lose our way. We grow in Grace only when we

give ourselves up completely. The ups and downs, the surfacing feelings

and strange behaviour are all part of the Divine Kundalini purifying us

for higher spiritual states. Even when feeling "down" or "lacking the

spiritual high" we must rejoice in the reality that it is of the divine

way for us to become of a higher Reality, and thus necessary. We continue

in our Sadhana and have our full faith in God.

The meditation of the Shabda is done in this way, and all that is

necessary in the beginning is ear plugs or cotton.

--Prepare yourself in the normal way, and assume your usual meditative

posture. --Insert the ear plugs or cotton.

--Listen for the sound. It will be there, so there is no need to

create a sound.

--It may sound like a buzzing, humming, vibrating, droning, whitewater

in a river, ringing, or a combination of these.

--If you find your mind wandering, acknowledge this and gently

redirect your attention to the sound.

--Go deeper into the sound, become one with the sound. Whatever you

hear is okay.

--If in time you hear a new tone or tones, bring it to the forefront

and go deeper into it. This is a higher vibratory rate, and tuning into it

raises your own, bringing with it grace.

--These tones have always been there. We only hear them anew because

we have stilled the raging mind and listened for them. It is noteworthy to

mention that a higher resonating sound may not necessarily be higher in

pitch.

--Not only is the sound the vehicle for grace, the act of giving it

our full attention trains the mind and teaches us focus which is useful

for deeper meditation.

--In time you will not need the earplugs. This is a good sign, as you

have become attuned to the Divine Shabda to a degree that you do not need

aids.

--Most authorities recommend 15-45 minutes, but ultimately this is

individual and varies greatly.

I pray that this is useful. Much light Marcus

Marcus,

> I am sending you two posts. One on the meditation of the inner sound,

>or Shabda. A profound core meditation used since in India for centuries.

>It is not widely known in many regions in the West, but pertains to the

>very sound which is of the essence of creation; In fact Shabda literally

>means "sound as such" and can be the vehicle for much Grace.

Thank you so much. And to think, I've thought for years that the noise in

my ears was because something was wrong! :)) I even stopped taking aspirin

for a while because I read that too much aspirin could cause noise in the

ears. But of course nothing changed. :)

> Also sending a post to the list on Matrka: matrka is the power inherant

>in all the letters of the alphabet.

I have not paid much attention to this sort of thing in the past because

what I saw always seemed to be about Sanskrit letters, and I don't even

know how to pronounce them properly. Of course, the Tibetans use their own

writing, and Kabbalah says the Hebrew letters are the archetypes through

which the world was created. :) But you seem to be saying that this works

just as well using our own letters, is that right?

> Sit quitly and watch the play of the matrkda sakti. Watch how the

>matrka gives rise to letters, how the letters compose words, how the

>meaning of the words creates images in the mind; watch how you become

>involved in these images.

Does this mean to see the forms of the written letters arise? Or can it be

the sounds which arise? I'm wondering if this sort of meditation might

have begun before there was writing. If so, it would have had to be a

matter of watching the arising of sounds and their combinations into words,

etc.

Re: Fw: Paravak

Dharma, The sound in your ears is a wonderful, a beautiful sign! Matrka is

the power inherent in all letters of all languages. Matrika begins

differention from pure creative energy to "individualized" sounds, such as

vowels and consonants. For instance, the word hate. First, pure sound or

energy has to differentiate into the individual letters h-a-t-e. These four

letters are then put together to form the fluid gross form, or whole word

hate. The word hate then brings vivid images; images of a particular thing,

or particularity. It is the endless combinations of letters to form words,

and the images the words conjure up in the mind that form differentiation.

Following this in all words back to the source gives us a flash of

realization that seemingly "different" things are in actuality only

manifestations of one supreme energy. Words and the images they produce are

the cloak over the subtle background unity in all things. Matrka is the

crown jewel of Maya. Hope your day is well! Bhaktananda Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Would you mind explaining this? I know it's probably a simple thing... I

confess I never took a physics course. :)

Re: Fw: Paravak

Hi Dharma, It really is a subtle issue that eludes the ol' brain tissue.

We think in terms of tones that the ears can hear, which rise in frequency.

When drawn inward by the inner sound meditation, we 'feel' these tones

resonating within. The path within is something beyond the brain's area of

expertise. The subtle sound is a very wonderful and mysterious thing to us;

let me suggest that by all accounts and readings, the tone that is the most

profound 'feeling,' and not necessarily higher in pitch, is the one you

want to draw out, going deeper into it, merging with it. Much Light Marcus

siddhas

Dharma,

Two verses from "Secret of The Siddhas." Enjoy!

274. Limitless powers are created by groups of letters. Bondage

is the failure to realize the influence of the shakti chakra,

the powers of the groups of letters. To understand the

powers of the letters is to attain everything. When one

contemplates and understands isolated thoughts and

makes an effort to pursue unity, this upaya is known as

the jnana upaya. When one knows the mighty power

which is nondual and the basis of all thought, whether

good or bad, this upaya is known as the shakta upaya.

Through the means of dualistic knowledge, knowledge

of unity is attained. For that reason, this means is also

called bhedabheda upaya, the dual/nondual means.

275. parashakti cannot be revealed by articulated speech, but

She can be seen as a result of one-pointed contemplation

and experienced through the oneness brought about

by the shakta upaya. This union or absorption comes as

a result of pursuing Her.

ucchararahitam vastu chetasaiva vichintayan,

yam samaveshamapmoti shaktah so'trabhidiyate

The shakta upaya is the process by which the mind and intellect completely

merge into the inner Self.

Thank you, I'll study this...

Did you mean to write "the shakti chakra" or was that a mistake? If it is

correct, would that be sahasrara or another chakra?

Re: siddhas

Dharma,

Matrka Shakti and Shakti Chakra are essentially the same thing. Good

question. Shakti Chakra is not the term used very often. L M
