Palini Swami did not sneeze, but his eyes opened at the last minute as the sage removed his hands from the heart. Ramana Maharshi pointed out that in the case of Palini Swami, the rebirth took place in a higher region as the mind still had latent tendencies left. In the case of Sage's mother, her total surrender to her son made possible the full merging of the mind in the Self. Again, the last day of the Ramana's Mother is worth reading about.
