I just know they have a word corresponding to "the highest of the high" or something like that... para para sri ? I'm intrigued to hear your friend decided to go into philosophical counseling. I think it can offer some things that strict Freudian or Jungian counseling may not be able to offer. Philosophical counseling has actually been quite the rage in Norway the last few years. Since we have a state church, ppl have tended to lose belief in Christianity as presented by the church and turn to other alternatives. I do think a lot of ppl suffer from a lack of, shall we say, existential faith, so a more philosophy oriented counseling sounds quite positive. Guest guest
I also have a ULC certificate. When I lived in Florida I was so cautious of the religious right and did not want to pay the $600 per year cost to practice astrology, yoga or tarot work. While I've never had to use it I like the fact that the organization has been in court going right up to the Supreme Court and have been found to be legally viable. Loved re-reading your bio Bruce so many New York 50's childhood parallels. I believe that while mentally not accepting catholic dogma my internal awakenings began in Rockaway Beach. There one summer when I was about 9 or 10 I spent each evening of my vacation walking from 109 street down to Far Rockaway (I think approximately to about 23rd St.). I was not aware of anything or anyone around me simply the force of the ocean and the beauty of this universe which I knew was within in me. Very different summer for me could hardly speak to any of my friends. When I got back to Staten Island I spent the next year with this deep need to be in church when it was empty or during an early morning mass before the sun came up. Living in a noisy and chaotic house I believe this time of quiet was a way of smoothing out and integrating the energy of being one with the ocean. Am looking forward to part 2 of your saga.
