I received the following letter from someone who visited my

website. Could anyone help? Please write to the list or to

me. I could give out his address on request. Thank you.

I was wondering if you could suggest any Canadian schools

offering full-time study in something which would support

(to one degree or another) my journey towards the

perception of enlightenment. I am not particularly

interested in Schools of Divinity unless they extend

outside of the Christian realm... Something that would

qualify for student loans would be ideal.

I am 32 years old, with a B.Sc. in Computer Science and 10

years experience in Information Technology. I also have a

foundation in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) with a

Counselling/Coaching focus.

I am currently drawn to Jerry Stocking and will be leaving

in a few days for a week-long Illusion Conclusion course. I

find his exercises for transcending pattern and expanding

awareness to be refreshingly concrete.

I am reading some Osho and some Nasagardatta Maharaj. Also,

I like Eckhart Tolle (Vancouver) and I am investigating

John De Ruiter (Edmonton).

I am currently living in Vancouver but I am prepared to

move. I stopped working several months ago when I began

taking intensive courses in NLP.

My primary consideration in looking for a program of study

is that it be reasonably experiential (although I realize

that this may not be realistic in an academic program).

Philosophy, psychology, and religious studies all seem to

have potential.

Realistically, I am probably looking at a B.A. program. I

am investigating U of Calgary's M.A. in Buddhism; but I

would not have a sufficient number of Religious Studies

credits to go directly into the program.

As I suggested earlier, my interests are not principally

academic -- I care a lot about the experience and very

little about the credentials. That being said, I have a

good academic record and I would perform well in any

program that offered legitimate insight.

What little grounding I have in religion, per se, is

probably limited to buddhism and sufism. I speak Mandarin

(although it is increasingly rusty) and some Cantonese. In

addition, I am into Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Any program that could connect me to something deeper

within myself, contribute to radically different

perceptions of the world, or otherwise stretch me, would be

worthy of consideration.

Thanks!

P.S. You could take a look at Jerry Stocking

Dear Jerry,

This url lists everything from shamanic studies to the tibetan nyingma school...

the

reason for suggesting transpersonal psychology as a possibility,,is that it is

the

main one focusing on experiential plus including eastern religious perspectives.

Plus

it is part of regular school degree programs enough to qualify for student loans

and

give degrees. Some of these schools that are more off the beaten path obviously

do

not do that either. I don't know how hard it is for Canadians to study in the US

on

visas, but there just may not be that many places in Canada offering such. The

one

quoted below is close by and at least mentions Canada and the possibility of a

self-designed course. Since he mentions already some interest in NLP and like

that.

At least send him my best wishes!! ~Gloria

All paths go somewhere. No path goes nowhere. Paths, places, sights,

perceptions, and

indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space

of

Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things

arising

from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go

but is

always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to

be

the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of

Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self. Welcome all to

a.
