On Traveling Through the Heavens via Meditation

SHABD (HYMN, MYSTICAL POEM) OF SWAMI JI MAHARAJ FROM "SAR BACHAN RADHASWAMI

POETRY," VOLUME TWO:

Reverse the outward and downward flow of the senses, and collect them

within. Withdraw your mind and elevate it to the inner spiritual Sky.

Apply the Ear of your Soul to the inner Sound, ascend to the Thousand-Petaled

Lotus, and fix your Attention at the higher regions.

Kindle the Flame and then behold the Light amidst the Tinkling of Bells.

Rise to Banknal [Crooked Tunnel] and reach the Formless Realm [Nirguna

Pad].

Behold the Undecaying in the mirror. Ascend to the Dark Void. Be at

Rest.

The Sound of the Whirlpool Cave comes to my ears. I get a vision of Sat

Purush [God-with-Form] within me.

Hearing Sounds beyond I reach the Invisible and Inaccessible Realms.

I behold Radhaswami [Radhasoami, The Lord of the Soul, God]. He now dwells

in my eyes.

I offer prayer at the Holy Feet of Guru. I am delighted on receiving

His grace and mercy.

I engender love and faith in Him. How can I describe His glory?

I offer my body, mind and head to Him. I take His protection, and sing

His praises.

I cannot describe these Secrets to everyone. The tongue cannot do justice

to His glory.

I am in bliss and joy every moment. I now am in communion with Radhaswami

[Radhasoami].

Swami Ji: "Reverse the outward and downward flow of the senses, and collect

them within. Withdraw your mind and elevate it to the inner spiritual

sky."

What a great description of the meditation process! During meditation

we close our eyes & ears and withdraw or invert; our awareness shifts

to the world inside/within. We discover the energy of our soul that once

was divided, scattered, and dissipated by the five senses, now starts

to collect at a single laser-like point of Attention, what Masters call

"the Single Eye," the "Third Eye Center." As we develop our ability

to concentrate during meditation, the world of Inner Space starts to

open up for us.

Swami Ji: "Apply the Ear of your Soul to the inner Sound, ascend to the

Thousand-Petaled Lotus, and fix your attention at the higher regions."

This is the unique message of the Masters about what can happen to us

during meditation! Meditation in Sant Mat is not limited to the physical

or astral planes, counting one's breath for fifty years, is never stagnant

or limited, and is not an impenetrable spiritual "glass ceiling." Rather,

it is an ongoing journey of spiritual progress through the inner Worlds

of Love, Light and Sound. Swami Ji taught that by focusing all our Attention

upon the inner Sound, we will experience being pulled up or elevated

in consciousness to higher regions or heavens. The mystical poetry of

Swami Ji describes many spiritual experiences and higher planes that

the Soul can mystically ascend to (and through) during contemplative

meditation (Surat Shabda Yoga): 'the Flame,' 'Light amidst the tinkling

of Bells,' 'Thousand-Petaled Lotus,' 'inner Sky,' 'Crooked Tunnel,' 'Whirlpool

Cave,' 'Dark Void,' 'Sat Purush' (God), the 'Invisible,' 'Inaccessible

Realm,' 'Formless Realm -- Anami Radhaswami' [The Nameless One, Radhasoami,

The Lord of all Souls, the Most High God].

In the Teaching of the Saints are descriptions of many, many Heavenly

Realms, and the Light & Sound Current: the River of Spirit (Audible Life

Stream, Positive Power) which the soul travels upon. The Goal of the

Path of the Masters is to return to God. God has been described by the

Masters as the Infinite, Nameless Ocean of Love and Compassion. This

River of Light and Sound empties into the Ocean of All-Consciousness,

or as one poet-mystic puts it: "More than this cannot be told, for the

Holy Streams will take you to that Place where words are no more..............."

Swami Ji: "I cannot describe these Secrets to everyone. The tongue cannot

do justice to His glory. I am in bliss and joy every moment. I now am

in communion with Radhaswami [Radhasoami]."

Repeat God's Name and Meditate,

James
