Sometimes Consciousness Recognizes itself as Awareness, from which all things appear to rise.Love to allHarsh Could the "appearance" of deities in consciousness be that of what is called the archetypal world, the Awareness of? Can this appear in whatever belief system the individual adheres too? Love, Robert Dear Robert, I would think so. Mystics of all religions report seeing angels, deities, gods, and goddesses. There seem to be unconscious, conscious, and superconscious archetypes which may be more or less universal. Given the state of the mind, the deities and/or angel become visible, manifest, and one can even commune with them in consciousness. The interpretation of who the deity is would be according to one's belief system. Perhaps where a Christian has a vision of Mother Mary, a Hindu would have the vision of the Divine Mother. The appearance of the Divine Mother or the Goddess occurs in the Superconscious state and need not depend on prior practices of visualizations. Visualization requires effort. But a true vision is a totally effortless and spontaneous occurrence in the pure mental eye due to rising of the Shakti. The form of the vision may be something not anticipated or seen or visualized before. I wrote the poem "Vision of the Naked Goddess" giving words to such an experience. The following url will give a link to several Goddess poems I wrote a few years back.
