Hi,

John, thank you very much for supplying the link.

I will browse the book.

Jan, you spot the problems directly as usual.

No need to show me what undigested food looks like, but thank you for the kind

offer. LOL !

Yes, my body has at times clearly problems digesting food properly due to

seemingly constantly irriated and hyperacidic insides. I can see at the URL you

gave they have some theories concerning this and will read the article

carefully. It is a very interesting theory / work on nutrition and health.

What you say about the energy expenditure of digestion having to balance the

energy gain from the food makes perfect sense. Animals have been carefully

selected to this balance in nature. Humans have been given the gift of

environmental and behavior flexibility and can thus strike a balance themselves.

Which I now will try to do (once again) by some experimenting. It was fun

getting elegantly wasted, but there is a limit. :)

The advice about juicing fruits and vegetables and combine them with seeds is

something I most certainly will try.

It sounds delicious as well as healthy and energy rich.

Mmmmm, gazpacho. :)

I need food ! :)

One more question, though: Are pasteruized fruits and vegetable juices of less

nutritional or energy value than unprocessed juices ?

I know some fruitarians don't wish to eat any kind of processed food.

Thank you again for your advice.

Love,

Amanda.

them. Put the juice in a blender and add some seeds (100... 200 grams of flax-,

sesame- or sunflower-). Eventually add some tamari and herbs or spices to get

the proper taste and the blend will be a kind of tasty porridge, rich in

calories and nutrients, yet easily digestible - much easier than any type of

processed food. It won't give the "instant, explosive" energy a fruitarian

enjoys but it certainly comes at a worthy second place...

During my transition from (mainly) cooked food vegan to fruitarian, I did the

tests with litmus paper and both saliva and urine were acid. It changed into

alkaline in about a week and has stayed that way. The acidity is also said to be

linked to osteoporosis and as dairy products cause acidity too, it isn't a

surprise there is a relation between dairy consumption and osteoporosis.

Finding the proper balance means carefully watching the signs from the body but

the signs will be "loud and clear" only when the body has recognized what it

"likes" best. Strange as it may sound, the body *knows* that but unless it has

recognized, one won't get the proper feedback. Not really a surprise, the

similarity with "once recognized *who you are* it cannot be forgotten anymore".

The mechanism of recognition essentially is the same - that is why one should

not differentiate between mind and body :)

Take care: especially during transition periods like from "heavy" foods to

"light" uncooked food, the body can feel rather lousy because a flue-like

"house-cleaning" can be triggered and then the "wrong" conclusions will be made,

before the body can recognize...

With fruits one can make delicious blends as well. In Northern countries, in

winter, add some energy-rich stuff like dried figs. Those, fearing a rush of

glucose, add a few carrots - it will slow down absorption.

I consider anything pasteurized as processed food too. That is not by theory but

by experiment. One of the raw food gurus advised to test everything thoroughly

instead of just believing and imitating so I know the effects of pasteurized

juices to be the same as ordinary cooked food. Occasional use, no problem but

not a regular. Of course I tested AFTER the body recognized what it likes best

:)

My pleasure...
