I don't see how anyone can give up the desire for God Realization, Peace, or Truth, once it has began. No way, no how. In any of my great desires I have (and tried to eliminate to no avail), I have succeeded in reaching those ONLY when I have stopped seeking Truth (that which I desire -- which is ALWAYS a desire for Peace/God/Truth in some form), and began seeking instead in the opposite direction. As we begin seeking ONLY that which is false and feared and standing in the way of Truth, Love, and Peace, do we begin to see the obstacles that actually keep us from Truth, which was there all along. Looking at our fears and that which is NOT Truth... releasing and surrendering them for purification, allows us to literally become lighter and lighter as the fears are released. This is such a great process, and certainly beats looking for something we know is *right here* but can't see for the life of us -- actually we can't see it for the fears of us. Helping others recognize their fears standing in the way of their peace also becomes a very healing process for both. I talked with a friend this weekend who was searching for peace of mind in a situation she was in. She went to several others in one day, seeking answers, with all giving her advice on how to further her seeking to realize peace, none giving her the peace she was looking for. As I listened to her talk and recognized immediately which statement she made was fear (barely noticeable tears came to her eyes in that moment). I stopped her, and made her look at what she just said. We didn't need to talk about it... I just made her aware of it. She, nor I, realized at the time that this was a major obstacle standing in her way. As I immediately surrendered her fear, I knew that was all I could do at that time, and we left each other with a hug. She came up to me several hours later and thanked me over and over for helping her see. What is it she finally saw? I don't know, but she was finally at peace! I didn't have to do anything but look for what she feared. And if you have as many fears as I do, finding yourSelf once again becomes a full time job. :-) But the benefits of this job are fantastic! No way, no how. The desire for God isn't a desire in the usual sense - it is a longing that doesn't have an opposite like other feelings have. Nothing can oppose this longing. But, then, Meister Eckhart got to a point to say (correct me if wrong person of miss-quote), "God, please rid me of God!" Love, Jan// All paths go somewhere. No path goes nowhere. Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self.
