The following prediction of Jesus Christ is found in the ancient Hindu scripture known as Bhavishya Purana. Bhavishya means “future”, and Purana means “history”, so the name means the “history of the future”. The Bhavishya Purana was originally written 5,000 years ago by the sage Vyasa, who was the compiler of the Vedic scriptures. Usually Puranas are historical narrations of universal events that happened in ancient times, but in the case of the Bhavishya Purana, Vyasa is providing a narration of events that will happen in the future, beginning with the arrival of the age of kali yuga.

“Ruling over the Aryans was a king called Salivahana, the grandson of Vikramaditya, who occupied the throne of his father. He defeated the Shakas who were very difficult to subdue, the Cinas, the people from Tittiri and Bahikaus who could assume any form at will. He also defeated the people from Rome and the descendants of Khuru, who were deceitful and wicked. He punished them severely and took their wealth. Salivahana thus established the boundaries dividing the separate countries of the Mlecchas and the Aryans. In this way Sindusthan came to be known as the greatest country. That personality appointed the abode of the Mlecchas beyond the Sindhu River and to the west.”

Excellent job. Thanks. Please keep it up.
The mention about Japa .. is something I need to understand.. whether Christians do chant the holy names?
It is also believed that Bhavishya Puran makes a reference about Mohammed ..

Dear Webmaster,
The text of the Bhavishya Puranam as typed in here in the article contains a lot of errors. Anyway this is meant to be an introduction, of some of the essential contents, so that would be fine. I have with me a copy of the Bhavishya Puranam in Malayalam script with Malayalam translations. It is a different thing that I do understand the straight text of the Purana itself. If at all the BP must have been written incorporating all “would be developments” beginning with the start of Kali Age to the nearest ‘Pralaya” where there is going to be a massive destruction with decimation of populations like in a previous flood, this time due to War or epidemic of some sort, for a partial reconstruction. For certainly the Mahapralaya wherein the present Universe folds up for the birth of a New One!! Then there must be some time line for one to glean when this is all likely to happen. Unless such things are a part of the Scripture, it would be very difficult to establish its authenticity either in terms of the contents, authorship or antiquity.
Love the description of Yeshua (Ieshua – Isha (jesus)) in the Bhavishya Purana. The physical description is practically identical to the passage called ” the transfiguration” in the New Testament (Matt 17). Later on he goes on to talk about the re-incarnation of Elijah as John the Baptist. Of course, the narrow minded refuse to see what is clearly written. It appears that Hindus revere the identity & actual name of Yeshua more than most in Christendom, who refer to a mangled English translation of a Greek transliteration, which some think means 1/.Son of or 2/. Hail; Zeus…a Pagan Greek deity. Pity.
Yes so very true, I also mentioned about a text in the Ancient Indian Religious Book , about Isha Bba in the earlier post. The similar text is also in an ancient Tibetan Text describing about Jesus.
I believe there is another ancient Text also which describes about Isha baba, don’t know whether the above quoted text are from the same text. It is and old Religious book depicting about the future. This book is kept in a temple in a very Remote village. It is said that there are many such books, very large and numerous in quantities.
Also it is said that each and every person who is born in the world have his/her history,, ie. the present ,past and future inscribed in it.
Quotations from Bhavishya Puraana, the detailed narrations and the information from comments are all nice. Thanks for publishing.
I have gone through the Bhavishya Purana; many things are true, few things we can’t believe, Jesus was born about 2,000 years ago but Bhavishya purana written about 5,000 years ago then how can the king saw Jesus there in Tibet?
According to Bible, the 3 Magis from the east saw the star and followed it and reached the place where the star stopped,in those days only Indians knew astrology and predict the event,so those Magis were Indians, not only predicted birth of “HOLY CHILD” but asked Joseph-father of child to shift to safe place, otherwise the local king would kill him, thus saved the life of the saviour of million and founder of “CHRISTIANITY”,the world’s biggest religion. The story matches with the birth of Krisna-the Hindu God.His father Vasudeva got message from sky to shift the child to save from the local king’s hands.
This is one more obsession. some people think all the wisdom flowed from India only and every event of yesterday, today and umpteen tomorrows is already narrated in our puranas. If this is not Hindutva what else it could be!!!
saints are born in every region and try to reform people and their wisdom is circumscribed by the age in which they live!
I have heard from BHAVISHYA PURANA… that MAHAMDA today known as “Mohammad” is rebirth of demon named “Tripurasura”…. plz let me know if I am correct….

Mr.author bhavishya puran was not written 5000 years ago.. this is kaliyug and completed its 5500 year. do u means to say bhavishya puran was written in kaliyug. u dont have exact time of vad and puranas .then refer mul grant. donot spread any thing stupid @ Ajit leo . author is not aware and spreading lie about the bhavishya puran origin date. vyas was not alive 5000 yeas ago.. puraan and ved was written long long ago not in kaliyug.
Bhavishya purana is not a book that describes events that had happened before it was written.
It describes events that will take place in future.
Bhavishya (Future) Purana (History)
Bhavishya Purana means book of future
These quotations are like thé BHAGAVAD GITA.
This is so interesting! I am originally from Canada but currently live in France and am a follower of Jesus, although I reject all religious fundamentalism. I also feel connected to Hinduism because I experienced a very powerful Kundalini awakening many years ago, which cured my panic attacks. I am currently struggling about what I can and should do to combat Muslim fundamentalism. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
no fire without smoke…maybe true…but then , either Ishaa was born much earlier , or king Salivahana born much later !
further , what jesus preached may probably have been slightly different from what is commonly called Christian religion now….. like lord of the solar region , chanting , etc
Hi Rob,
Unfortunately, only a change, or rather an expansion in consciousness, can permit the Fundamentalist freedom to experience a truth which is beyond his or her present ability to recognise.
Spiritual freedom comes from surrender to the Supreme Personality of the Godhead in devotion in all things in life, every second and moment. Conversely, it is surrendering to Him that permits the renunciation which provides the means where all varieties of religion are seen for what they are – they are not GOD. However, the Fundamentalist follows an ideology rather than GOD.
I used to live in a temple for meditation of an eastern type for 18 or so months. There was no religion practised (except for the sandalwood incense) because it was all about meditation being the method for spiritual progress.
This caused me to want to find out more about eastern religion and so I took to chanting the Mahamantra on beads for a number of years and learning from the Vedas with other devotees as best as I could. I also stayed for a while in Bhaktivedanta Manor (ISKCON).
What I discovered was that there are Fundamentalists everywhere. I closely ally a Fundamentalist with a Literalist – someone who takes words in Scripture as literal first and only in a spiritual manner where absolutely necessary.
I have to confess that I gave up eastern spiritual practices for almost 20 years although I have always been actively involved in seeking Divine Truth – but in the meantime I went through a living hell as one in Kali Yuga might do. I tried everything from prayer to anti-depressants! It was only after two decades of non-meditation that I decided to restart practising the silent mantra-based meditation that I once knew in the mid 1980s, that the spiritual joy came flooding into me and changed everything in my life and outlook – and this within a few short days of restarting. This time I knew that it was all true about the raising of consciousness through meditation.
Now I have experienced many religions – and none. Many years ago I came to the conclusion that one should “abandon all varieties of religion and surrender unto ME” as the Supreme Being said:
Bhagavad-gītā As It Is 18.66
sarva-dharmān parityajya
mām ekaḿ śaraṇaḿ vraja
ahaḿ tvāḿ sarva-pāpebhyo
mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ
But this surrender did not bring me personally the joy of God’s Spirit – I was broken – then. Then, through His grace, I had access to a truth which I know many find hard to understand, although it is as simple as it could be – but even truth in words still did not bring the joy I knew was there, although I knew that the suffering was cleansing and purifying.
Now I feel that the joy and uplifted consciousness that regular simple meditation brings to me feels like “cheating”, because I feel that I am avoiding a lot of suffering through the benefits of meditation. A strange paradox one might think!
Anyway, the point is that I no longer take Scripture in a literal manner at all, as I have an aspect of truth, a way of life but one which is informed from the non-material plane – the Spirit World – which is direct, deep and profound, rather than sacred Scriptures, whether Vedic or Christian.
So I personally think that I know, through decades of seeking, that there is one truth but many aspects, and all are taken at a level of the seeker. I have studied for a long time the methods of the reception of spiritual truth which finds its way into holy Scriptures, and knowing something of its method I am able to “see” hidden truths and meanings – but not literal, because spiritual truth must be of the Spirit – which is by definition not literal!
I have a spiritual Example to follow and in that Example all truth opens up and passes on fragments to a lowly soul. Through the Example I am surrendered to Him. Oh blessed is the Great Heart! It is wonderful to know at times that you are in Him and He is in you. So devoting oneself to Him is renunciation – not renouncing the loving things but renouncing the world of the senses, renouncing the false world and surrendering to Him in every thought – because when this happens it is true renunciation. But always beware of the tricks of the world of the senses! The stories of fallen spirits or wicked demons in the Vedas and in the Bible are there for a reason. I know they are real or I would not be writing this to you.
Most spiritual people need a religion with Scriptures to form their life and reason-to-be. I understand this fully, and indeed it is necessary or humanity will become lower than the beasts of the field, and Scriptures are beautiful when read spiritually. So the Fundamentalist has a long way to go as far as his or her expansion of consciousness is concerned in my opinion.
I also believe that the physical life existing in Kali Yuga shall be purified through suffering and through disciples holding on to their God. Only then will it become impossible for a person to become a violent Fundamentalist. In time it will happen.
Peace is now!
Interesting article. . Am a Hindu but I do believe in Jesus and mother Mary (I did my schooling In a catholic boarding school) Jesus is very kind to me and have always listen to my prayers. I have always felt that Christianity and Hinduism are peace loving religion but can’t understand y most of the Muslims are not . Y do they I’ll treat non Muslims? Most of them whom I have met always compelled me to convert and argue that my belief is wrong . . If u are a peace lover, y should you do all this to fellow beings? Still tying to understand them .
What happen if you buried a silver pieces under Neem tree for 43 days and after the 43 days, you did not find it there. What happen? Should I have to do again? What went wrong?
I read the Bhaviswa puran. One thing tht i didnnt stand, is why is bharat referred to sindhustan.6
I think, someone manipulated BP later (maybe during Brit Raj).
India is always refered to as Bharatwarsh.
Dear Sir,
When people are surrounded with problems they want to come out of it. Their need is a person or messenger to fulfil their needs and solve their current issue. So they seek the help of god irrespective of religions. Once they get into it they are not permitted to come out of it. Find the root cause analysis and strengthen the religion. Instead of inviting them…. Once they feel the essence practically…. the means will follow….
All sorts of cock and bull stories in these puranas and there is nothing like Bhavishya kathana (future telling); it is just that chapters or slokas were added as and when any new and sensational developments occurred which affected the country. So with that limited knowledge all is written as if sages or some mediators tell future stories of the same. Perhaps all scriptures are full of such wild imaginations and stories. The chapters/parts on Jesus and Mohammed are particularly ridiculous and clearly point to later writing of these fragmented ‘predictions’ of history.
alright then, Visnu is supreme established from this purana also, stop all nonsence of holy ghost trinity and come into the embrace of sanatana dharma, Hare krishna
There is an ancient tradition which survives largely on the basis of secrets passed on from generation to generation which talks of how religions were authored in keeping with the problems of the time and the region where these religions were expected to help humanity develop. All religions were aimed at solving problems before humanity and helping human consciousness evolve. Regions where this process has been going on for a long time became more conscious, delving into the realm of the mystic and the supernatural. Regions where there was a pressing need for civilizing very barbarous people like the Arabian peninsula saw a prophet who would even use force to subdue. This tradition talks of the council of wise men who would establish new religions as and when required; the ultimate ideal said to be to unite all humanity into a single faith of humanism and universalism. The Bhavishya Puran is said to be a rendition in this vein. Not only would there be references to Isa and Christianity and Islam, thee are also references to more recent religious developments and their founders like Sikhism and Guru Nanak and the Parnami faith and Prannath and similarly to the Brahmakumaris. At one level the Bhavishya Puran is a historical source of a narration of the future; at another level it a source code to the design of human society and its integration or attempts at integration. To explain the relevance of the Bhavishya Puran to ne who is not well versed with mysticism would be difficult indeed; yet there are possibilities: perhaps the best comparison, albeit in parts, would be Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series, which talks of shaping the course of humanity and preserving peace and harmony to enable human progress.
It is odd though, it is thought that these prophecies of future events were written in the 19th century thus, the events already occurred.
There is also seems to be multiple interpretations of the same text, which one is real?
Too many confusions! Let me try to clear up some cobwebs.
1- Bhabisya Purana is a predictive text, not an accurate description. So we need to accept that actual events might be slightly different.
2-Many other texts have described Isha coming to Bharat for higher education, as was the culture in those days. Takhshila & Nalanda being the hub for education attracted many foreign students. So no surprise here. Also Jesus is supposed to be a descendant of King David. Royal people often came to India those days seeking advanced education.
3-Around those times, Buddhism was spreading its wings in India, and its highly probable that Jesus must have come in contact with buddhist monks and thus started a belief of peace, brotherhood, and heavenly father.
4- Sanskrit is a very complicated language. If you separate a complex word (Sandhi Bichheda)at the correct place, you get a correct meaning. But if you do it at the wrong place, you get a completely different meaning. EX-URBARUKAMIBABANDHANAT
urbah-ukam-iba-bandhan-at, meaning lift me higher from these mortal bindings. But Urbar-ukam-iba-bandhanat almost nearly means this fertile land being under someone’s control. So one has to be very careful with Sanskrit.
Jesus is the judge of souls (and stop!)
But it is not spirit: neither he nor the souls mind that judges
He is the head of the court in the paradise of Lord Brahma who is the Lord of Abrahm (equal god soul jiva).
But he is not Atman, the true God in action and creation.
But he is not Krishna-Brahman nor the Siva-Brahman (which are the same person ONE SUPREME saguna and naguna version ..
True Spirit is Lord Atman, he comes from my neck
True Myself is Krishna
Myself is true primordial SIVA-BRAHMAN equal to my true deep inner nature, no body and no mind, peace and endless perfect full power.
There is no race
There is no religion
There is no caste

No space no time no empty
A mind appear to many minds
A jiva soul appear so many souls jivas
One atman spirit seem many atman.
One Original seem many man and woman, deva, devi, animal, ect.
The real Noble is who renounces all worldly things and emotions.
True Lord is who takes over the world and all beings and brings them to the Self,
to give them eternity and joy of their original one substance.
There is ONE and there is a cycle that ends.
Do well and have well
Do badly and you have misunderstood and do very bad.
But, in any case, The Siva-Brahman all you want and all it takes in himself.
None of you are lost: good, bad, good and bad.
Not even a stone and a microbe the SIVA will leave down here.
The Real World of ETERNAL ONE is not into the Relatives worlds of Gods, Devas, Human, Animal, energies, atoms, photons and neutrinos, write letter or book, correspondence and Human or Devas theories.
It is outside and above.

bavishyapurana clearly predicted about kaliyugas religions viz. buddhism, christianity and islam etc.long back. this shows that hinduism is much older than all these religions.Guru Vyasa was the predicter. These kaliyuga religions should recognise this and follow Hinduism and its Dharma for their good and well being of its followers.
It was later on added by Britishers.
now every chrestain can be hindu because only hindunism show right path as said in puran and you seen its true about isha!
welcome in Hinduism the path to god!
These prints were corrupted and edited during British era to promote missionaries.
Good attempt to connect BP to Jesus Christ. I think this is a later interpolation…because of two reasons…1. The reply given by Isha Putra does not match with Jesus’ teaching recorded in the ancient Gospels. 2. The word Masihi is not a Hindu religious term…
Anyways…my research says Jesus is unique…There is no one like Him in entire human history…So. He should not be compared or equated with any one…It is an insult to His greatness…
Further I have a very serious question about Hinduism…1. What is the definition or understanding of divine nature? 2. Why do Hindu gods fight among themselves and are jealous of each other? I think this is not divine but Human…3. Why do you say that all the paths lead to same God..or Truth…because all paths are fundamentally opposite…Please explain how Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and Jainism lead a person to the same truth? I think they are totally different paths and head towards different destinations. Can anyone help me understand this?
Well folks, there is an ancient saying that one must NOT believe everything that one reads, hears or sees… Well, while I was getting caught up in this whole, “Isha Putra” prediction thing, some one wise advised me to refer to Wikipedia and lo and behold, this is what Wiki has to say about the varga of the Bhavishya Purana that claimed this Jesuit nonsense –>
” This section has led numerous scholars to question the authenticity of much of the Bhavishya Purana, and as evidence that these Puranas were not scriptures, but rather a document of history that was constantly revised and thus of a living nature, both over time and over geography. This varga specially has drawn intense criticism and incurred the ire of most vedic scholars who questioned the veracity of much of this section as being ancient. Research has confirmed significant corruption of this section with historical narratives over the last few centuries.”
Apparently this text further goes on to mention Queen Victoria, describe her palaces 🙂 and even refer to Calcutta’s streets 🙂. So it is more of a document on history than actual Vedic pouranic revelations from Vyasa Muni or other Rishis… So pls feel free to ignore this ‘Isha Putra” story completely…
